KHAAN-DAAN of Bollywood

Like every other person on this planet, I used to wonder what is so much special about these Khans of Bollywood,so that media just can’t stop raving about them(Especially Amir, SRK and Salman) and make it a point to cover just about everything related to them. But the latest developments of Indian film industry seems to be coming up with an explanation, I was eagerly looking forward to.

During one of the worst recession of history, even entertainment industry was not spared and as if it was not enough, the dispute between Multiplex owners and Producers made the situation worse for the industry as the deadlock continued for over two months.
Then Khans came to the rescue of Bollywood, firstly it was Salman Khan with his action packed drama WANTED (Remake of Hit Telugu blockbuster POKIRI) and its gross collection was close to 75 crores. But wait, history was to be rewritten by Amir Khan with his another Christmas release 3 IDIOTS, which shattered all Box office collection records and its earnings are 315 crores in first 19 days of its release.

Even the youngest and the most underrated khan, Saif joined the party this year with Imtiaz Ali’s take on the love story and portrayed the character of two lovers who were poles apart in every aspect effortlessly. Love Aaj Kal turned out to be the solo blockbuster for Saif and grossed over 63 crores on the box office as well.

But, being an ardent fan of SRK since Deewana days, I am keeping my fingers crossed and wish that My name is Khan goes past 3 Idiots in terms of revenue. I had loved RNBDJ more than GHAJINI but the maverick marketing guru Amir khan saab had the last laugh last year. All the best SRK and Karan for MNIK, however I liked 3 IDIOTS a lot and it’ll certainly go down in history as a classic and global product churned out by BOLLYWOOD
